Thailand is not only rich in geographic diversity but also in culture and history. In fact, it is considered as one of the few places on earth that has so much to offer especially to its visitors. This country has almost everything a tourist could ask for - from lush forests and wonderful rivers, to breathtaking islands and white-sand beaches, amazing temples and awesome palaces, and of course, modern cities and advanced technologies.
With popular tourist destinations like Ayutthaya, Phuket, and Ko Samui, South Thailand has certainly put itself on the map. To foreign visitor, and even to some locals, the region has plenty of things to offer - tropical islands with sun kissed beaches, coral reefs, fishing villages, hills and enormous rock formations, religious caves, national parts, wildlife sanctuaries, historic settlements and picturesque Buddhist and Islamic temples.
By far, the most popular thailand vacation destination is the island of Phuket. With its Phi Phi Island, Similian Island, Phang Nga Bay, Kong Pha-Ngan, Kata Beach, Bang Tao Beach, Surin Beach, and the royal favorite twin beaches of Thong Nai Pan, it is a true beach-bum paradise. There are several thousand islands in the world, but Phuket boasts a selection of beaches that is envied by the world over.
Phuket is Thailand's largest island which became famous around the world for its magnificent beaches, bays, and coves. Aside from the tin mining and rubber production in his island, it also got its wealth from being the "Silk Route" between India and China. Phuket's contribution to Thai cuisines is its delicious seafood. Snorkeling, diving, treks, and walks are just some of the leisure activities one can enjoy in this place. Included in its main attractions are Patong Beach, Kamala, Karon, and Kalim beaches, and Promthep Cape.
Phuket is the country's most famous beach destinations. It is Thailand's largest island with numerous major international resorts. Since it's popular, this island is crowded with tourist and it isn't really perfect to those who are looking for a relaxing escape. If you want to stay away from the crowd, you can try to go to Bon Island, which is a wonderful island paradise. With its warm water, soft sand, and rich marine biodiversity, it has become a great site not just for swimming but also for snorkeling.
But Phuket extends far beyond luscious beaches and stunning tropical sunsets. It also offers a wide variety of entertaining activities. Some of the must-see, must-experience activities in the island are the Phuket Fantasea Show that combines trapeze artists, pyrotechnics and performing elephants in a somewhat wacky show, Simon Cabaret that showcases perhaps the largest group of cabaret performers in the region, the Old Phuket Town that lets tourist feel the old luxury of Sino-Portuguese communities, and the night-life of Patong. For a more serene feel, you can always go to Phuket's temples, waterfalls, and national parks and forests.
For the more adventurous beach-combing visitors, Koh Samui offers an idyllic getaway. Although the recent structural developments in the island have somewhat put it in the league of Phuket's beaches, many areas in Koh Samui still remain as untouched as they were some decades ago. For remote destinations, you can choose between the Taling Ngam Island, Bang Kao and Hua Thanon for some peace, quiet and privacy.
Add to that the laid-back island lifestyle, and you have a place that's perfectly set up for a luxury holiday, yet at very affordable prices. Looking for a peaceful tropical paradise where you'll lack for nothing, where your holiday dreams come true? Phuket is where you need to be.
